It seems he may actually have read his own bad legislation.  The typical form letter includes a paragraph alluding that changes may be made.

What, mandatory testing & drugging is actually negotiable?!(@&#%&#Y$%

Dear Ms. ____

Thank you for contacting me to express your concerns about the Mom's Opportunity to Access Health, Education, Research, and Support (MOTHERS) for Postpartum Depression Act (S. 1375). I appreciate hearing from you.

As you know, the MOTHERS Act would establish grants for the States to educate new mothers and their families about postpartum depression and improve access to screenings for symptoms. S. 1375 also would provide funding for social services and related research at the National Institutes of Health. Introduced by Senator Robert Menendez (D-NJ) on May 11, 2007, S. 1375 is under review by the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee.

I took note of your concerns about this legislation as it is currently written. Should S. 1375 be approved by the Senate HELP Committee and considered by the full Senate, please be assured that I will keep your views in mind. I will continue to strongly support initiatives and policies that help women have healthy pregnancies, safely undergo childbirth, and receive the essential physical and mental health care they need as new mothers.

Again, thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts with me. For more information about my work for Nevada, my role in the United States Senate Leadership, or to subscribe to regular e-mail updates on the issues that interest you, please visit my Web site at http://reid.senate.gov. I look forward to hearing from you in the near future.

My best wishes to you.

Sincerely,

HARRY REID

United States Senator

Nevada
